Why specify CUPOWER LED Driver

Match Current and Voltage

Set the output current to the LED module's rated current, then check that the module's forward voltage at that current lies inside the driver's output voltage range.

Choose How the Current Is Set

DIP-switch models select the output current from preset steps, NFC models are programmed with an NFC tool, North American models use 2-Wire QuickSet or a programmer, and fixed-current models leave the factory set.

Select the Control

DALI-2 DT6 dims, DT8 adds tunable white, D4i adds luminaire data and DALI bus power, 0/1-10 V suits analogue systems, and Casambi, Meshle or Mymesh Bluetooth mesh controls without wiring.

Check Mains and Mounting

Confirm the mains supply (220–240 V, or 120–277 V and 347 V for the North American range), the luminaire's protection class, and whether the driver is built in or mounted independently.

Questions

When is a constant-current driver used instead of a constant-voltage one?

Constant-current drivers feed LED modules, COB arrays and luminaires rated for a set current. Constant-voltage LED strips need a constant-voltage driver at the strip's rated voltage, such as CUPOWER's 24 V and 48 V CU series or the MEAN WELL line.

How is the output current set?

By model: DIP switches on the driver or an external DIP plug, NFC programming, 2-Wire QuickSet on the North American LSCB series, or a fixed factory setting. The LED module's voltage at the chosen current must stay within the driver's output voltage range.

What do SELV and non-SELV mean?

A SELV driver keeps its output at safety extra-low voltage, so the LED side can be handled more simply. A non-SELV driver, such as the linear SKY series, has a higher output voltage and relies on the luminaire to protect against contact with live parts.

What is the difference between DALI-2 DT6, DT8 and D4i?

DT6 drivers dim one LED channel. DT8 drivers control colour, here tunable white over two channels. D4i drivers add luminaire, energy and diagnostic data and power the DALI bus for sensors and communication nodes.

Which products need the SkyLink antenna?

CUPOWER's SKY NFC drivers, the Linear Non-SELV Bluetooth/Mesh NFC and Compact SELV Sky NFC series, are controlled through the SkyLink external antenna, ordered separately in the 1CH or TW version that matches the driver.
